Happy Sunday Beauties,

It has been a crazy long week for me. I have worked and gone to school the last 14 days, I am exhausted and between you and me I would like a beach to go to, and a nice cool wine! But before all that goes down tomorrow. I wanted to share with you some blow drying tips.

1. Its really important to use a high quality blow dryer. My fav is Salono-from Italy.

2. Your hair needs to be 60% dry before you use a round brush.

3. When drying the hair with the blow dryer, lift the hair by the roots with your fingers to create volume.

4. Get some clips and section your hair in one inch sections. Start at the nape and keep taking one inch sections. Use the round brush to provide volume and sheen. When blow drying with the round brush, allow each section to cool with the round brush still on your hair. This will help keep the style and volume.

5. After doing each section, spray it with a high quality hair spray. I like Sebastian Shaper.

6. Tease the crown area if needed, and hair spray it to hold.

Hi Beauties, those of who you read my blog and have hair extensions, well this one is for you.

Important Tips:

Never ever go to bed with wet hair. It damages your hair extensions and causes them to matt together.

When you have a tangle start at the bottom (Your ends and work your way up) Don’t go directly into the tangle at the top of your head, that will only make matters worse.

Please do not try and move up or take out your extensions yourself. Make sure a professional does it everytime.

Always condition your hair with high end products like Goldwell Kerasilk, or Bumble and Bumble. Never apply the conditioner to the scalp, and make sure to wash it out.

Mr. Pumice and Callus Eliminator

OK, I know it sounds gross but it is essential to exfoliate for good skin. Especially in area’s where the skin is hard, i.e., soles of feet, elbows, etc. I went to Cosmoprof yesterday and went into the nail/skin section checking out products and these ones stood out to me. I liked the price on Mr. Pumice which was $4.00 wholesale and the Callus Eliminator was $5.00. I figured I would purchase them, besides my feet were looking banged up from the summer. I couldn’t wait to try it out when I got home!

I started off in the shower (HAHA that sounds gross), soaking my feet in hot water, then I applied the eliminator to the soles of my feet, allowing it to soak in for 3 minutes. I was not sure if anything was going on, as I could not see any dead skin come off. Maybe the solution just breaks the skin down? I have no idea? I don’t think purchasing the Callus Eliminator was necessary, but whatever. Women always need more products, right?

Ok, going back to the story, after I rinsed off the solution… I used the Mr. Pumice stone to exfoliate the dead skin. That worked perfectly!! I really like the stone, it fits nicely into your hand for application and you can feel the stone working against your skin. I recommend the Mr. Pumice stone as a callus remover on its own. I have seen the stone being used in almost every nail salon and I am so glad that I figured out where it can be purchased!

As for my feet, they look young and radiant and feel amazing!

Number one rule for hair coloring

Hi Dolls. So I see this time and time again. Do NOT color your hair at home. There is a reason why we spend time going to school and shelling out the big bucks to learn the trade. BOX COLOR is the absolute WORST THING for your hair. It causes it to be dry and it damages your hair. When you decide that you want to go lighter, you can’t easily because the box color has penetrated your hair. If a professional colors your hair they know to do it safely.

Don’t let this happen to you

The second Most important thing that I beg of you, is to never ever ever, BLEACH your hair at home. As if box color wasn’t bad enough! Some people will use box black color for years, then end up hating it and want to go platinum blond. Well, guess what, they can, but they will break their hair off and end up looking like a straw patch. I see this problem time and time again. Clients do not want to pay to get their hair professionally done, so they bleach their hair at home and completely damage and fry their hair. Then they finally call the stylist to fix it. Which ultimately cannot happen because the hair has already been damaged.

AND believe this when I tell you. HAIR CAN NEVER BE STRENGTHEN after it has been over processed or over bleached. There is nothing to be done, no masks or ultra conditioners can help you at that point. The only thing to do it cut your hair extremely short or grow it out. THEN GET EXTENSIONS. Which you will then end up paying $800.00+, so it makes since to see your hairstylist before making any radical decisions on your own? Believe me if you go down that route, you will pay.. at some point. See your HAIRSTYLIST! We know the best thing for your hair and you do not want to be walking around with short fried blonde pieces like Britney Spears. Think 2006 or whenever that was…..Have a nice Sunday!

Fresh Soy Cosmetics

I just bought this cleaner, serum and moisturizer set the other day and I think its great for ages 12-35. The cleanser is light and spa scented, to top it off it will even take off mascara! I have never seen a cleanser do that, to the extent this one does. Your skin will look fresh, clean and youthful.

The serum acts like a moisturizer and is to be used before the moistuzier. It pulmps up the skin and has a radiant finish. The soy face serum has age-delaying ingredients and is clincially proven to reduce fine lines.

The moisturizer is my favorite! Its really moisturizing and a little goes a long way. My face has not felt dry all day, which is unusual for me. I used to purchase really expensive moisturizers, but not anymore. Especially since with the price tag of these products only cost me $38.00 for all three at Sephora!

I am a HUGE fan of Mad Men and anything related to vintage hair and makeup. It is something that has inspired me since I was a young girl. I remember watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes when I was 8 years old and I immediatly fell in love with Marilyn Monroe and the 1950’s style.

The Lady of the Hour

Today I was on You Tube investigating new ways to do vintage up do’s with the character Betty Draper, from Mad Men in mind. This video tutorial was easy to follow and I recommend anyone to watch who is interested in 50’s-60’s styles.
